SUMMARY
The best Lithuanian book for children ‘2017 Siberian Haiku was created by two authors: Jurga Vilė (text) and Lina Itagaki (illustrations). That’s why there are two award winner’s acceptance speeches in the beginning of the issue of “Rubinaitis”. Further presentation of new books is given in the SURVEYS caption. Vilija Dailidienė carefully analyzes non-fiction books by the Lithuanian authors, and Dalia Karatajienė presents new illustrations by the Lithuanian artists. Neringa Mikalauskienė discusses the most important translations for children and YA into Lithuanian. ARTICLES section pays attention to classics. Prof. Gražina Skabeikytė-Kazlauskienė searches folkloristic background in classical books for children and classifies modes how it is used. Kęstutis Urba explains artistic peculiarities of the historical poem Song about Gediminas (1938) by Balys Sruoga. Dr. Domininkas Burba questions if the famous ballad Jūratė ir Kastytis by Maironis is for children only and presents its various interpretations in art and modern literature. READINGS OF MY CHILDHOOD gives closer acquaintance with wellknown illustrator Marija Ladigaitė. BIBLIOGRAPHY prepared by Roma Kišūnaitė includes list of articles and publications on children’s literature, and CHRONICLES, of course, is about the latest events in the field of children’s books.
