SUMMARY
The biggest part of the issue is ocupied of surveys of the new books by Lithuanian authors published in 2008. Neringa Mikalauskienė analyses fantasies and notices that animal characters prevail in the genre. The critic desiderates more philosophical and problematical works in the field. Dr. Loreta Jakonytė observes so called realistic novels and short stories. She states many young authors started to write this kind of prose, but very few demonstrated obvious literary capacities. The observer pays more attention to the books by Gendrutis Morkūnas and Rimtautas Rimšas. They both have peculiar life experience and managed to express original attitude towards the modern world. Dr. Loreta Žvironaitė is dissapointed how poor books of poetry became during the last year.
Proffessor of linguistics Kazimieras Župerka is the guest of the caption Books of my Childhood, he answers to the guestions of Džiuljeta Maskuliūnienė and remembers his young days in the post-war Lithuania. Dr. Genovaitė Raguotienė tells about the contribution to Children‘s literature criticism of Teodoras Šuravinas, who‘s centenary is to be celebrated this year. And Vilnius university student Laura Vilkaitė analizes Kerstin och jag by Astrid Lindgren, just translated and published in Lithuania.
