SUMMARY

“Let us grow with the book!” invites the Russian author Sergej Makhotin and the artist Mikhail Feodorov on the first page of the “Rubinaitis”.  “What is Dystopia?” explains young scholar Goda Baranauskaitė in her article. New books by the Lithuanian authors published in 2016 are shortly analysed in the SURVEYS caption. Almost 30 books of Literary fairy tales, Picture books and Fantasies are discussed by Prof Gražina Skabeikytė-Kazlauskienė, the connective question ant the title of her survey is “What is Happiness?” Oppressive themes, dark motives prevail in so called realistic prose for children and YA, states Prof Džiuljeta Maskuliūnienė, who presents 18 new books. Dr. Loreta Žvironaitė paid attention to 35 poetry books. Many of them are written by amateur authors and are poor from the artistic and educational point of view, but some raise hope for the better future of the genre.
