SUMMARY
The main topic of the present issue is the information about the books for children published in Lithuania in 1997. One may find the full bibliographical list and two articles: about the new fiction (by Vilma Kaladytė) and about the poetry (by Loreta Žvironaitė). The article by Gražina Skabeikytė deals with the tendencies of the modern Lithuanian childrenʼs folklore.
Rubinaitis also celebrates the memorable year of the great Finish author, Zachris Topelius (1818–1898). The author was almost unknown to the Lithuanian readers until now. Riitta Kuivasmäki introduces with the life and works by Topelius. Vida Remeikytė pays more attention to The Surgeonʼs Stories, in which the name of Lithuania has been mentioned. The Cock on the Church Roof by Topelius is the new translation inspired by Rubinaitis.
In the traditional caption “Books of my Childhood” Elona Varnauskienė interviews the famous Lithuanian poet Justinas Marcinkevičius.
