SUMMARY
The Message of the ICBD written by Renate Welsh opens the present issue of RUBINAITIS.
The main publications are about the new books for the Lithuanian children published in 2001. Dziuljeta Maskuliuniene analyses works of fiction. The critic finds that some books are of high literary quality – the books by young authors Nijole Kepeniene, Gintare Adomaityte and some other. Loreta Jakonyte states, that there were very few important books of poetry for children, published during the last year. Roma Kisunaite prepared the Bibliography section, where she included all books of the year and classified them according to the age of intended readers.
The traditional caption Books of my Childhood contains the interview by Elona Varnauskiene with the prominent author Algimantas Zurba. The author tells about his postwar childhood, first books he read in his young days.
Three reviews in the section At a Closer Look are written by Neringa Mikalauskiene, who discusses the book of literary portraits by Jonas Linkevicius, by Vaiva Schoroskiene, who presents “Grammar of the Imagination” by Gianni Rodari and by Kestutis Urba, who analyses “Walk Two Moons” by Sharon Creech.
The second part of “The Magic Fishbone” by Dickens is published in the section Letʼs Read Together, Mama.
