SUMMARY
Illustrators have possibility to make far-off world of classics very lively and inviting for the modern children. Audition of picture-books organized by IBBY-Lithuania and dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Pranas Mašiotas (1863-1940) demonstrated it. This is the main idea of the INTRODUCTORY. Three publications in separate section also are concerned with the jubilee mentioned above. Regina Klementavičienė characterizes so called “Scientific Tales” by Mašiotas, Indrė Klimkaitė analyses some his classical translations from German and Dalia Karatajienė cogitates which illustrations were the most suitable for Mašiotas’ works. Professor of children’s literature Vincas Auryla (19232007) is another person honoured in the issue of “Rubinaitis”. Professor’s correspondence with daughter by Mašiotas was found in archives and published now, and Loreta Žvironaitė warmly presents his life and works. Džiuljeta Maskuliūnienė pays attention to the 120th anniversary of Hans Fallada. Interview with teacher and writer Vilė Vėl fills up the caption READING OF MY CHILDHOOD. Vita Mozūraitė reviews “Tales from outer Suburbia” by Shaun Tan just translated into Lithuanian. The list of jubilees of the next year as well as CHRONICLE was prepared by Roma Kišūnaitė.
