SUMMARY
This special issue of “Rubinaitis” is dedicated to the Latvian children’s literature. And the reason of that are State centenaries being celebrated this year in all three Baltic countries – Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia. Professor of Latvian university Elze Stikāne presents development of the Latvian CL from the 18th century until now. Professor Austra Avotiņa from the same university writes about the prominent Latvian illustrator Anita Paegle and especially her new picture book “Spirit of Roses”. Silvija Tretjakova analyzes new book by Māris Rungulis “Pastaiga mirušo pilsētā”. Phd student from Kaunas Vytautas Magnus university Kristina Vaisvalavičienė carefully explored history of Latvian CL translations into Lithuanian. Short extract from above mentioned Rungulis’ book and some poems by Latvian poets Māra Cielēna, Uldis Auseklis, Kārlis Vērdiņš are presented in the section LET’S READ TOGETHER, MOTHER, FATHER! While the section READINGS OF MY CHILDHOOD is filled with interview: famous linguist, editor, translator, born in latvian-lithuanian family, Lilija Kudirkienė answered to questions by Audrius Musteikis. In the caption BIBLIOGRAPHY one can find list of jubilees of the next year, and CHRONICLES mainly presents “adventures” of the Lithuanian delegation at the 36th IBBY Congress.
