SUMMARY
The message by Ana Maria Machado opens the present issue of the magazine. Traditionally, reviews on new books for children by the Lithuanian authors of the last year are published in the beginning. Džiuljeta Maskuliūnienė analises approximately 40 new books of fiction which present different trends and different artistic quality. But Loreta Žvironaitė regrets, that only one book of poetry (that is literary tale in verse by Martynas Vainilaitis) was of high quality.
Doctor of humanities Gražina Skabeikytė discusses the folkloristic background in the poems for children by Sigitas Geda, and Saulė Matulevičienė shortly compares two poems by Geda and two folk songs, on which the poems are based. Both publications are dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the poet.
The caption Books of my Childhood contains the interview by Elona Varnauskienė with the well-known poet Algimantas Baltakis, who wrote some books for children as well. The poet tells about his schooldays, books, and family life.
The Swedish children’s literature is often presented in RUBINAITIS, since it is popular in Lithuania. This time readers may find the poem about the Owl who didn’t wish to read by Ulf Stark (caption Let’s Read Together, Mummy), and four men of different age and of different professional experience (doctor of social sciences Vytautas Navickas, the famous teacher Marius Mikalajūnas, young poet Marius Burokas and second year university student Julius Gromnickas) were invited to share their opinion about the Vinterviken by Mats Wahl, which was just translated by Agnė Kudirkaitė into Lithuanian. All of them find the translation very important and discuss various aspects of the subject-matter as well as narrative structure of the book.
The Bibliography of all the books of 2002 is made up by Roma Kišūnaitė, the Letter by teacher Birutė Grabauskienė and Chronicles and Information about future events one may find in the further captions.
