SUMMARY
Gendrutis Morkūnas received the IBBY Lithuania prize for the best book of 2007, and his acceptance speech „Reading children will save the Greenland glacier“ opens the issue of the magazine. Two articles in the SURVEYS section also discuss new books for children and YA of the last year. Violeta Juodelienė analyses new translated books which were presented for translation award, and Živilė Krupickaitė carefully evaluates new illustrations. MA student of Vilnius university Justė Radzevičiūtė writes about complicated life of the famous children‘s poet Kazys Jakubėnas, the publication is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the poet. The guest of the caption BOOKS OF MY CHILDHOOD is doctor of humanities Jūratė Sprindytė. Interviewed by Loreta Jakonytė, she not only remembers what she read as a child, but also reasons about the particular importance and influence of reading and of illustrations in childhood. Regina Vilkelienė and Salomėja Mikutaitė are teachers of secondary school in Kaunas and they presents their experience of reading promotion among schoolchildren.
