Kazys Saja is the author of the best Lithuanian book for young readers published in 2009. (The award was given on the 2 April 2010.) Author‘s acceptance speech opens the present issue of RUBINAITIS. Very honourable friend of the Lithuanian section of IBBY professor Maria Nikolajeva permitted to publish her article „Interpretative Codes and Implied Readers of Children’s Picturebooks”. (Here is the first half of the article to be continued in the next issue.) Doctor Dalia Karatajienė observes the most important works of the Lithuanian illustrators, published in 2009 and Gintarė Adomaitytė discusses the most valuable translations for children and YA. Doctor Karin Beate Vold from Norway donated to our readers literary profile of Anne-Catharina Vestly which is dedicated to the 90th birth anniversary of the author. Džiuljeta Maskuliūnienė interviewed Šiauliai university professor Bronius Prėskienis, who tells about his childhood and books. And Vilnius university student Laura Vilkaitė asked Emy Beseghi, professor of Bologna university: “What Italian children do read?” Letters from readers of RUBINAITIS, Bibliography of publications about children’s literature, compiled by Roma Kišūnaitė, and Chronicle of events are the most traditional captions of the magazine.
