SUMMARY

The ICBD message by Angeliki Varella and the poster by Nicholas Andrikopoulos occupy the first page of the present issue of RUBINAITIS. Review of the new Lithuanian prose books for children of the last year, written by Loreta Jakonytė, is devided into five parts. Firstly, the reviewer gladly presents books in which she finds authors’ efforts to inculcate new style, new ways of writing for children. After that she shortly analyses so called traditional books and amateur writings. There were also quite many poor books, as every year. Loreta Žvironaitė states that quantity as well as quality of poetry for children in 2003 (same as in 2002) was poor again. Only some books of verses and one literary fairy tale in verse deserved to be analysed with greater attention.

Three articles are dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Vytautas Misevičius (1924-1994). Jonas Linkevičius discusses the whole literary heritage for children by the author, Kęstutis Urba analysis his literary fairy tales and Neringa Mikalauskienė compares the most popular book “Danukas Dunduliukas” by Misevičius with similar works by Petkevičius and Mieželaitis.

The honorable guest of the caption Books of my Childhood is famous teacher and expert of children’s literature Lionginas Šepkus, who answers to the questions of Gintarė Adomaitytė.

New fairy tale “Hotspur” by Vytautė Žilinskaitė is published in the caption Let’s Read Together, Mother.

There are more important information in the issue. One can find almost 300 titles in the Bibliography (compiled by Roma Kišūnaitė) of books for children published in 2003; Kęstutis Urba introduces with Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award; and children write about their favorite books in Letters section.
