SUMMARY

Kęstutis Urba considers themes and problems of the contemporary Lithuanian literature for children and wishes it would become more global and philosophical. ARTICLES section consists of publication by Loreta Jakonytė („School image in the modern Lithuanian prose for children“), by Rita Karpavičienė („Historical fiction for YA by Vytautas Misevičius“) and by Asta Gustaitienė, who presents the danish author Lene Kaaberbøl and analyses her Skyggeporten. The last in the section is Andersen Award Acceptance Speech by Jürg Schubiger.

Mare Müürsepp’s article is dedicated to the 80th birth anniversary of the Estoniain author Edgar Valter. Džiuljeta Maskuliūnienė interviews Šiauliai university professor Ona Danutė Klumbytė, who tells about her colourful life and mentions a lot of books she admired in her childhood.

Newly translated books by Christine Nöstlinger, Andri Snær Magnason and Elisabeth Zöller are reviewed in the section AT A CLOSER LOOK. But the book by Gintarė Adomaitytė is disccussed by reader of RUBINAITIS in the LETTERS section. Kęstutis Urba compiled new list of books, recommended fo young readers. Roma Kišūnaitė prepared the CHRONICLE and INFORMATION section.
