SUMMARY
„How diverse is the World!” – summarizes Kęstutis Urba telling about the 31st IBBY Congress in the INTRODUCTORY. He mentions the main events of the Congress and the most important ideas of speakers. The ARTICLES division consists of three publications. Neringa Mikalauskienė observes the theme of Street children in the Lithuanian children’s literature, and Irena Baliulė, writing on the similar topic, presents the image of town in Vytautas Račickas’ novels for children. Henna Takkinen’s article about A Bear called Paddington by Michael Bond reminds us the famous book was published 50 years ago and informs about the history and destiny of the book and the character. (The article was reprinted from the Finnish magazine “Onnimanni”.) Alma Valantinienė interviews the illustrator of children’s books Taida Balčiūnienė in the caption BOOKS OF MY CHILDHOOD. Zohreh Ghaeni, the President of H C Andersen Award jury, kindly permitted to publish her Award presentation speech which introduces the new winners to the Lithuanian readers. Short extract from Mutter, Vater, ich und sie by Jürg Schubiger continues the presentation. (The book is to be published in Lithuania soon.) Three books are reviewed in REVIEWS section and the list of Literary Jubilees’2009 compiled by Roma Kišūnaitė, should be helpful for librarians, teachers etc.
